Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. When should I schedule my newborn portrait session?
We recommend booking your newborn portrait session early in your second trimester as monthly newborn session appointments are limited.  If your baby is due soon or is already here, please contact us as soon as possible.  Newborn portrait sessions are done in the studio Monday – Friday mornings.

2. When is the best time to photograph my newborn baby?
We photograph newborns between 6-14 days old and up to six weeks old.  We strive to capture sleepy, curled up poses of your beautiful baby.  The key to achieving these poses is to photograph your baby within the first two weeks of life while he/ she is still comfortable in these womb-like positions.  Even if your baby is a little bit older, we are still able to create stunning portraits that will melt your heart.

3. How long does the newborn portrait session take?
Newborn portrait sessions typically last three hours.  It is the perfect time for parents to relax in our client lounge while watching Netflix, using our Wi-Fi, reading a book, checking emails or taking a nap.  We do all the work and will only need your assistance when it’s time to nurse or change your newborn.

4. Have you been vaccinated for whooping cough?
Yes, I am up-to-date on both the measles (MMR) and whooping cough (Tdap) vaccinations.

5. When is the best time to do my maternity portrait session?
We recommend doing your maternity portrait session between 32-36 weeks of pregnancy when you feel like your belly is nice and round and you are still feeling that pregnancy glow.  We have a beautiful selection of maternity gowns for you to use and a couple of matching gowns for the special little girl in your life (six and under).

6.  Are props provided by the studio?
Yes.  We have an extensive collection of designer baby knits, headbands, hats, wraps, crowns, buckets, baskets, floral nests and specialty props for use during your newborn portrait session.  You are also welcome to bring an item of significant meaning to incorporate into your session.  Just let us know in advance so we can include it in your session design.

7.  When will my portraits be ready?

One week after your session date, we will meet again at the studio for your Viewing & Ordering Appointment.  It is at this appointment that you will view all of your portraits, select your favorites and place your order.  We will assist you with creating stunning displays for your home using your favorite images.  All orders must be paid in full at this time.

8. Does the Session Retainer Fee include any prints, products or digital images?
The non-refundable Session Retainer Fee secures your session on the Kimberly Ogden Photography calendar.  Prints, Wall Portraits, Heirloom Albums and Digital Images are purchased separately at your Viewing & Ordering Appointment.

9. Can I place my order online?
All sessions include an in-studio Viewing & Ordering Appointment one week after your session date.  At this appointment, you will view all of your images, choose your favorites and place your order.  This personalized client experience is the hallmark of our brand and we believe very strongly in the value of providing our expertise in person.
